Week 14 of the MTN Super League produced drama, intensity, and crucial movements on the log, with 16 goals scored across nine matches. Six teams secured victories while three matches ended level at 1–1. With the standings tightening in the middle of the table and the top two continuing to pull away, this round marked a significant checkpoint before the league enters its mid-season break.
Red Arrows Extend Their Lead at the Top
Red Arrows, sitting 1st with 31 points, extended their unbeaten run with a composed 2–0 victory over 16th-placed Mutondo Stars at Nkoloma Stadium. Peter Kalota was once again the hero, scoring twice to guide the log leaders to another commanding performance. Arrows looked sharp throughout, controlling the game and creating the better chances.
Mutondo Stars struggled to match the intensity of the table leaders but showed moments of resilience, particularly in the first half. However, Arrows’ attacking quality eventually broke them down. The win puts Arrows six points clear at the summit and maintains their status as the only unbeaten side this season.
With AFCON approaching, Arrows enter the break full of confidence and in a strong position to push for the title when the league resumes. Their cushion at the top becomes even more important with a demanding set of fixtures awaiting them in January.
Power Dynamos Rise to Second After Stunning Comeback
Power Dynamos climbed to 2nd place with 25 points, thanks to a sensational late comeback against 10th-placed Konkola Blades at Arthur Davis Stadium. Francis Mubanga had given the visitors the lead, putting Blades on course for a major upset, but Power showed championship mentality in the final minutes.
Kenyan striker Moses Shumah stepped up in extraordinary fashion, scoring a quick-fire brace in the 85th and 86th minutes to flip the match on its head. The late drama ignited the home crowd as the defending champions showed why they remain one of the league’s most dangerous sides.
Head coach Oswald Mutapa praised the fight from his squad, highlighting their refusal to give up. The result positions Power perfectly heading into their games in hand, giving them a chance to close the gap on the unbeaten Red Arrows.
FC MUZA and FC Leopards Share Points in Mazabuka
Fifth-placed FC MUZA (23 points) and 14th-placed FC Leopards (11 points) settled for a 1–1 draw at Nakambala Stadium. Leopards took the lead early in the second half through a Kondwani M’hango own goal, putting pressure on the home side.
MUZA responded well, pushing numbers forward and dominating possession after conceding. Their persistence paid off when Lewis Kasongo equalised, restoring balance to the contest and energising the home supporters. The match remained highly competitive until the final whistle, with both sides missing chances to win it.
The result keeps MUZA firmly in the top five heading into the break, while Leopards continue to fight just above the relegation zone, needing more consistency in the coming fixtures.
Nchanga Rangers and Nkana Draw in Chingola
At Nchanga Stadium, 3rd-placed Nchanga Rangers (24 points) were held to a 1–1 draw by 17th-placed Nkana FC (10 points). Idriss Mbombo opened the scoring for Nkana, giving the visitors hope of securing just their second win of the season.
Nchanga Rangers, who have been one of the surprise packages this season, increased pressure midway through the match and eventually found their equaliser through Jacob Kaunda. They pushed hard for a winner in the final moments but were denied by resolute Nkana defending.
The point helps Nchanga maintain 3rd position, but missed opportunities will frustrate them. For Nkana, every point is crucial as they attempt to rise from the relegation zone.
Green Buffaloes and Kansanshi Dynamos End Level
Ninth-placed Green Buffaloes (18 points) and 15th-placed Kansanshi Dynamos (11 points) also ended in a 1–1 stalemate at Edwin Imboela Stadium. Kansanshi struck first through Willy Bokingo, capitalising on a defensive lapse early in the second half.
Buffaloes responded with sustained pressure, eventually earning their equaliser through Martin Njobvu, who finished off a well-worked attacking move. The hosts pushed for a second goal but could not convert their chances, leaving both sides to settle for a draw.
Buffaloes remain mid-table heading into the break, while Kansanshi continue to hover just above the relegation zone, needing stronger results when the league resumes.
Napsa Stars Overpower Kabwe Warriors
Napsa Stars, positioned 11th with 15 points, secured a crucial 2–0 victory over 6th-placed Kabwe Warriors (22 points) at Reiz Arena. Evans Sichalwe opened the scoring early, giving the Pensioners control of the match.
Kabwe Warriors tried to respond with several attacking moves, but Napsa remained compact and disciplined. A second goal from Timothy Sichalwe sealed the win and gave Napsa a much-needed boost heading into the break.
For Kabwe Warriors, the loss is a setback in their push toward the top four, but they remain within striking distance as the season continues.
Mufulira Wanderers Edge Green Eagles
Mufulira Wanderers strengthened their position in the top half, moving to 7th place with 22 points, following a narrow 1–0 victory over 8th-placed Green Eagles (19 points) at Shinde Stadium. The match was tight throughout, with both teams displaying good organisation.
Owen Mwamba scored the decisive goal after a well-executed attacking sequence. Eagles attempted to respond late in the game, but Wanderers’ defence held firm to protect the lead.
The result keeps Wanderers firmly in the hunt for a top-six finish, while Eagles remain competitive but inconsistent heading into the break.
Mines United Finally Celebrate Their First Win
Bottom-placed Mines United (7 points) finally grabbed their first win of the season with a 1–0 triumph over 4th-placed Zanaco (24 points) at Independence Stadium. Davy Sinyinza scored the all-important goal that sent the home supporters into celebration.
Despite their position at the foot of the table, Mines United showed tremendous fight and discipline throughout the match. Zanaco pushed for an equaliser but were repeatedly denied by determined defending and well-timed interventions.
Head coach Kafula Charles praised his squad’s perseverance, noting the players’ growing confidence. The win gives Mines a glimmer of hope as the league approaches its second half.
Nkwazi Defeat Zesco United at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium
Nkwazi FC climbed to 12th place with 13 points after securing a hard-fought 1–0 win over 13th-placed Zesco United (11 points) in Ndola. George Ndhlovu scored the only goal of the match in the 28th minute.
Zesco United tried to find a way back but could not break down Nkwazi’s disciplined structure. The win gives Nkwazi their second victory of the season and boosts their momentum heading into the break.
Head coach Masauso Tembo expressed satisfaction with his squad’s execution, praising goalkeeper Lukas Mainza and the team’s improved organisation despite earlier inconsistencies.
League Break for AFCON 2025 Preparations
Week 14 concludes the 2025 fixtures as the league goes on a mid-season break to allow the national team to prepare for AFCON 2025. Power Dynamos and Zesco United will use December to play their outstanding matches, which may further reshape the league table.
Week 14 delivered drama, upsets, and critical movements across the MTN Super League. Red Arrows enter the break firmly in control, while Power Dynamos and Nchanga Rangers continue their pursuit. At the bottom, Mines United finally earned a breakthrough victory, giving themselves hope for the second half of the season. With AFCON on the horizon, teams will regroup and return stronger for the decisive run-in.
