Kansanshi Dynamos Appoint Mohamed Fathi and Dennis Makinka to Lead New Technical Project
MTN Super League side Kansanshi Dynamos have officially unveiled former NAPSA Stars head coach Mohamed Fathi as their new head coach, with Zambia U17 National Team boss Dennis Makinka joining him as first assistant. The announcement marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Solwezi-based outfit as they seek to rebuild their season and steer clear of relegation concerns.
Fathi Signs Short-Term Deal as He Begins Kansanshi Rebuild
Egyptian tactician Mohamed Fathi has signed a short-term contract that keeps him at the club until the end of the 2025/26 MTN Super League season. The experienced coach, who is widely respected in Zambian football circles, joins Kansanshi Dynamos after recently enrolling for the CAF Pro Elite Licence, a qualification reserved for top-tier football coaches across the continent.
Speaking during his unveiling at Independence Stadium in Solwezi, Fathi expressed confidence that Kansanshi Dynamos can rise again with proper structure and renewed hunger.
“It’s a good organization, a big organization, but it’s not in the right position,” Fathi said. “We are trying to put this team where it deserves to be—on top of the league. Our target is to get into the top eight, and hopefully push for the top four.”
Makinka Joins on Two-Year Deal After Making Youth Football History
Joining Fathi is Dennis Makinka, who signs a two-year deal after leading the Zambia U17 National Team to a historic FIFA U-17 World Cup campaign where the team advanced from the group stage in their debut tournament. Makinka brings fresh energy and deep knowledge of youth development, making him a valuable asset for the club’s long-term vision.
“Kansanshi is a big club with big ambitions,” Makinka said. “I didn’t hesitate to join. I’m here to give my best and help the club turn things around. The fans here are amazing, and we want to give them positive results.”
Makinka’s appointment also signals Kansanshi’s commitment to blending experience with youth development as they work to stabilise their season.
Complete Technical Bench Revealed
The full technical setup at Kansanshi Dynamos will include:
-
Head Coach: Mohamed Fathi
-
First Assistant: Dennis Makinka
-
Second Assistant: Yoram Kasempa
-
Physical Trainer: Buchi Mfune
-
Goalkeeper Coach: Humphrey Kapoma
This new-look bench is expected to bring renewed discipline, fresh tactical approaches, and improved player development as the team pushes to climb the table.
Club President Declares: ‘Relegation Is Not in Our Vocabulary’
Kansanshi Dynamos President Douglas Nyirenda has set clear expectations for the new technical team, stating that relegation is not an option for the Mabanga Boys.
“Everyone on this technical bench understands one thing: relegation is not a topic for Kansanshi Dynamos FC,” Nyirenda said. “The executive and sponsors have done their part—now it is your turn. Excuses are not part of the results we want. When you win on the pitch, you bring glory to the community.”
Nyirenda’s strong message shows the club’s unwavering commitment to turning the season around and restoring pride in Solwezi.
Conclusion
The appointments of Mohamed Fathi and Dennis Makinka signal Kansanshi Dynamos’ ambition to fight their way up the MTN Super League table. With a strengthened technical bench and strong backing from the executive, the Mabanga Boys enter a new era driven by discipline, structure, and a renewed desire to compete. Kansanshi’s mission is clear: rise, rebuild, and remove any doubt of relegation.
