Ndola United Head Coach Tenant Chembo has publicly called for immediate intervention from FAZ President Keith Mweemba, citing growing frustration over what he describes as declining refereeing standards in the Zambia National League.
Speaking after his teamโs recent fixture, Chembo did not hold back as he expressed his disappointment with the level of officiating being witnessed across the division.
โSomething has to be done now because the cry-out is real. I honestly believe referees donโt care,โ he said.
The outspoken coach stressed that officiating is not just a technical matter, but a decisive factor in match outcomes, team morale, and league credibility. He warned that if ignored, such concerns could erode confidence among players, coaches, and supporters alike.
Chemboโs remarks have struck a chord with several coaches, club officials, and fans who have also voiced dissatisfaction over controversial decisions and inconsistency in key league matches. While the Super League has had its fair share of officiating complaints, the National League appears to be facing even greater scrutiny as promotion battles intensify.
With the season heating up, many are now watching to see whether the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) โ under new leadership โ will acknowledge the calls for reform. Whether through referee retraining, stricter assessments, or disciplinary measures, stakeholders are demanding a more professional and accountable refereeing setup.
One thing is clear โ Chembo has broken the silence, and the ball is now firmly in FAZโs court.
