The MTN Super League burst into action with a riveting first week that showcased the competitive spirit and excitement that football fans eagerly anticipate. As the opening matches unfolded, the stage was set for a season filled with drama and skillful performances.
Kicking off the week, Nkwazi took center stage in their match against Konkola Blades on a Friday. In a tight contest, Nkwazi emerged victorious with a 1-0 scoreline, marking the first win of the season. The lone goal of the match proved to be the difference-maker, with Nkwazi‘s determination paying off as they secured a positive start to their campaign.
The clash between NAPSA Stars and ZESCO United was another highlight of the week. ZESCO United managed to secure a narrow 1-0 victory, with Lola Moise‘s well-executed strike in the 45th minute providing them with the crucial edge. In a similar fashion, Red Arrows faced off against Nkana FC and emerged triumphant with a close 1-0 win. Edward Mwenya‘s early goal in the 9th minute was enough to seal the victory for Red Arrows, despite Nkana FC’s spirited efforts to mount a comeback.
Green Eagles and Mutondo Stars played out a goalless draw, highlighting the defences’ tenacity and the teams’ determination to secure a positive start to the season.
Meanwhile, Trident FC and Kansanshi Dynamos battled to a 1-1 draw, where Graven Chitalu‘s equalizer in the 60th minute for Trident FC canceled out Davy Daka’s penalty goal for Kansanshi Dynamos.
