Lumwana Radiants Football Club has confirmed that head coach Bilton Musonda has been allowed to travel to Lusaka for medical attention, following the team’s difficult start to the National League season. The decision was announced in an official statement issued by the club’s general secretary, Jonathan Mapipo, on Sunday.
Temporary Change in Leadership
In Musonda’s absence, First Assistant Coach Allan Kamwanga will take charge of the team. The development comes after Lumwana Radiants suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Makeni All Stars, leaving the club with just one win in their opening six matches of the season, alongside two draws and three losses.
Seeking Medical Advice on Future Role
The club further disclosed that Musonda will also be consulting doctors regarding his continued role as head coach. Depending on medical guidance, the club may need to make additional decisions about the technical bench setup going forward.
Club Calls for Unity and Support
Lumwana Radiants have urged their fans to remain supportive during this period, calling on them to rally behind the team and pray for Musonda’s recovery. “We thank Coach Musonda for his service, wish him a speedy recovery, and call on all our supporters to keep him in their prayers while rallying behind the team,” read part of the official statement.
Focus on Turning Around Form
With Kamwanga at the helm, Lumwana Radiants will be seeking to revive their campaign and find consistency in results. The team’s recent struggles have sparked concern among fans, and the coming fixtures will be crucial in determining whether they can climb up the National League table.
Conclusion
Lumwana Radiants now face a testing period both on and off the pitch, as they deal with the uncertainty around Musonda’s health and leadership while fighting to improve results. All eyes will be on Kamwanga as he attempts to inspire a turnaround in the club’s fortunes.
