Keith Mweemba: Attacks on Referees Will Lead to Jail Time

Keith Mweemba: Attacks on Referees Will Lead to Jail Time

FAZ Moves to Enforce Discipline and Safeguard Match Officials

Mweemba’s statement comes amid increasing concerns over match-day conduct in domestic football. From verbal abuse to physical threats against referees, there have been growing calls for FAZ to take a harder stance.

“Whether it’s a spectator or a team official, the Association will do its part with the Association statutes in order to protect referees,” Mweemba said.

He made it clear that the protection of referees, players, and teams is a top priority as FAZ works to restore order, respect, and fairness in Zambia’s football arenas.

“Culprits Will Be Prosecuted and Jailed” – FAZ President Declares

Mweemba went further to assure that FAZ, working in tandem with law enforcement, will ensure that anyone who attacks or threatens match officials faces legal consequences.

“Culprits who attack match officials will be prosecuted and sent to jail,” he stated. “Referees, teams, and football as a whole will be protected.”

This hardline approach is being welcomed by sections of the football community who believe that without decisive action, the integrity of Zambian football could suffer.
