Zambia continues to shine on the regional stage, as both the U15 Boys and Girls teams booked their places in the finals of the CAF African Schools Football Championship, COSAFA Qualifier South Africa 2025. The young Copper Queens and Copper Bullets delivered confident, composed and clinical performances at the Idas Valley Sports Complex in Stellenbosch, overcoming Malawi in commanding fashion. Their victories underline the strength of Zambia’s youth structures and the bright talent rising through the ranks.
Girls Team Match Report
The U15 Girls side produced a disciplined performance to defeat Malawi 2 to 0 and secure a place in the final against host nation South Africa. The Copper Princesses controlled the midfield from the start, showing maturity beyond their age.
Hildah Kangwa opened the scoring after 27 minutes with a composed finish that gave Zambia the momentum. Malawi attempted to respond, but Zambia’s organisation and defensive awareness ensured their opponents found no breakthrough.
The second goal came through Catherine Kapolyo, who calmly sealed the win and confirmed Zambia’s slot in the final. The Copper Princesses have now gone two matches without conceding in knockout action, and they head into the final with confidence and belief.
Boys Team Match Report
The U15 Boys were equally impressive, overpowering Malawi with a 3 to 0 victory that highlighted their attacking power and tactical sharpness. Zambia struck immediately when captain Charles Sitali fired home inside the first minute, setting the tone for a dominant display.
Allan Chingambu added the second goal after 15 minutes, capitalising on Zambia’s high pressing and clever combination play in the final third. Malawi struggled to deal with Zambia’s tempo and direct approach which kept the pressure consistent.
The final goal came in the 37th minute from Michael Chilinda, putting the match out of reach and giving the young Copper Bullets a strong platform heading into the final showdown with South Africa.
Looking Ahead: Finals Against South Africa
Both Zambian teams will now face the host nation in the finals, with the boys scheduled to kick off at 12:00 hours on December 7. The girls will also be aiming to continue their momentum against a tough South African side in what promises to be high-energy finals.
With confidence soaring and performances improving each match, Zambia will enter the finals with belief in their abilities and the hunger to bring glory home.
Conclusion
Zambia’s U15 Boys and Girls have shown discipline, character and outstanding talent in Stellenbosch. Their qualification for the finals confirms the continued growth of youth football development in the country. With both sides now preparing to face South Africa, the nation will be watching closely as the next generation of stars aim to lift the regional crown.”
