FAZ President Meets Nora Häuptle as Copper Queens Gear Up for WAFCON Preparations
FAZ President Keith Mweemba has held a strategic meeting with Copper Queens head coach Nora Häuptle as Zambia intensifies preparations for the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
As the FIFA international window approaches, the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) is reinforcing its support for the women’s national team by aligning with the coach’s vision and tactical roadmap. In a crucial planning session, Häuptle outlined her preparatory program to FAZ President Keith Mweemba, joined by General Secretary Reuben Kamanga and Technical Director Lyson Zulu.
The Copper Queens are set to play Botswana and South Africa in international friendlies during the upcoming FIFA window, which will serve as important tests ahead of the prestigious continental tournament scheduled for July 2025 in Morocco.
“The meeting was an important platform to synchronize our goals and ensure the team has all the support required to compete at the highest level,” Mweemba stated. “We are fully committed to helping the Copper Queens achieve success in Morocco.”

Coach Nora Häuptle expressed satisfaction with the session, emphasizing the significance of early planning and the need for competitive friendlies to fine-tune her squad.
The Copper Queens are currently in camp with a local contingent of players, while foreign-based stars are expected to join in the final stages of preparation. The team’s blend of youthful talent and experienced internationals is expected to create a balanced squad capable of challenging for honors at the 2025 WAFCON.
Zambia made headlines in the last edition by reaching the semi-finals and earning their debut qualification for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The momentum built from those achievements now shifts to Morocco 2025, where expectations are even higher.
