Nya, 28, has now become a free agent after both parties failed to reach an agreement on a contract renewal. The towering defender departs after a respectable stint in Ndola, where he became a reliable figure at the heart of the ZESCO United backline.
A Respectful Goodbye
In an emotional farewell message shared exclusively with media, Nya thanked ZESCO United’s management, technical staff, and passionate fans for their support throughout his time at the club.
“Dear ZESCO United FC fans,
This is to notify you all that I’m parting ways with the team as my contract here has come to an end.
I want to specifically thank the entire management, my teammates, technical crew, and the lovely fans for the opportunities, love, and support shown to me throughout my time here.
Thank you very much.
As I anticipate a new phase of my career, I wish the club continuous success in their future endeavors.
– Denis Nya.”
The defender leaves on good terms and is now expected to explore options across the African continent and beyond.
Nya’s Time at ZESCO United
Denis Nya joined ZESCO United in 2023 from Nigeria and quickly established himself as a strong, no-nonsense center-back. His leadership at the back helped ZESCO remain defensively solid throughout his time with the team.
Although ZESCO fell short of the league title in the 2024/25 MTN Super League season, Nya was among the more consistent performers and brought continental experience to the squad.
What’s Next for Nya?
As a free agent, Denis Nya is now available for signing by any club. Given his profile, age, and experience, he is expected to attract interest from teams in Zambia, South Africa, and North Africa, as well as a possible return to the Nigerian Premier League.
His next move will likely be strategic, especially as he seeks a competitive environment with opportunities for continental football.
Conclusion
ZESCO United will now need to fill the void left by Denis Nya’s departure as they prepare for the 2025/26 season. Meanwhile, Nya embarks on the next chapter of his career with gratitude and optimism.
His exit marks the latest in what appears to be a summer of significant changes for the Ndola giants as they look to rebuild their squad and challenge for silverware once again
