Eden University Women’s Super League champions ZESCO Ndola Girls have officially announced the signing of defender Esther Muchinga on a permanent deal, marking their second major acquisition in as many days.
Muchinga joins as a free agent after her contract with ZANACO Ladies expired at the end of last month. The 24-year-old has committed to a two-year deal with the Ndola-based outfit, adding more depth and experience to a squad gearing up for regional and continental competitions.
“We’re thrilled to announce the signing of 24-year-old defender Esther Muchinga from ZANACO on a free transfer. She joins us on a 2-year permanent contract,” read a statement by the club.
Impressive Domestic Record
Last season, Muchinga featured in 28 matches for ZANACO Ladies, where she consistently stood out with her defensive prowess and leadership. Her addition provides Zegalicious with more stability at the back as they prepare for the COSAFA Champions League qualifiers, which serve as a path to the 2025/26 CAF Women’s Champions League.
The timing of the move comes just a day after ZESCO Ndola Girls unveiled Copper Queens goalkeeper Hazel Nali, who is making a return to competitive football after recovering from a long-term injury.
More Signings on the Horizon
According to Bola Yapa Zed sources, ZESCO Ndola Girls are not done yet. The club is expected to finalize the acquisition of Abigail Munkombwe from Choma Warriors, having already reached an agreement in principle with the Southern Province-based club.
With CAF Women’s Champions League qualification on the line, the Ndola giants are making strong moves to ensure they are not only domestic contenders but also regional heavyweights.
Conclusion
Esther Muchinga’s transfer represents another statement of intent from ZESCO Ndola Girls. With her experience and reliability in defense, coupled with the recent signing of Hazel Nali, Zegalicious are sending a clear message to their rivals: they are here to compete at the highest level. As CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers approach, all eyes will be on how these reinforcements gel into a title-contending squad.
