ZPL 2025/26 National League Matchweek 7 Preview

The ZPL National League rolls into Matchweek 7, and if last weekend’s fireworks were anything to go by, brace yourselves this one promises goals, drama, and maybe even a few broken calculators as the standings keep shifting.

Roan United are still sipping tea at the top with a flawless six wins out of six, but lurking behind them are Chirundu United, Makeni All Stars, and Trident, all within touching distance. The middle of the table is congested like Cairo Road at rush hour, while down at the basement, Atletico Lusaka are still searching for a second point to prove they belong.

Forest Rangers vs Jumulo FC – Dola Hill, Ndola

Forest Rangers sit pretty in 5th after a hard-fought win last weekend. Jumulo, meanwhile, are blowing hot and cold mostly cold, like nshima left out overnight. Expect Forest to fancy their chances here, but Jumulo need points fast before they slide further down.

Kafue Celtics vs Chipata City Council – Croc’s Swamp, Lusaka

The Celtics snatched a late win against Chambishi last weekend thanks to Mulenga Chiluba’s cool finish. They’ll be looking to build on that momentum. Chipata, however, are no pushovers, and this clash has all the makings of a midfield slugfest. Whoever wins may just sneak into the top six.

Kitwe United vs Chirundu United – Garden Park, Kitwe

Kitwe United finally showed some bite in a draw with Indeni, but facing second-placed Chirundu is a different ball game. Chirundu are unbeaten and buzzing. If Kitwe defend like they did in their last match, Chirundu could leave Garden Park with all three points and probably the keys to the stadium.

Mpulungu Harbour vs Chambishi – Muzabwela, Mpulungu

Both sides lost last weekend, and both are desperate to stop sinking. Harbour were hammered 4–0 by Locus, while Chambishi were narrowly undone by Kafue. This one’s less about flair and more about survival. Expect a gritty affair, maybe with more yellow cards than goals.

Roan United vs Lumwana Radiants – Kafubu Stadium, Luanshya

Stylish Roan are on fire six games, six wins, and already looking like Barcelona in copper belts. Lumwana, on the other hand, are stuck in 14th and struggling to shine. Unless Lumwana pull a rabbit out of the hat, this could be another easy three points for the leaders.

Trident FC vs River Plate – Sentinel Ground, Kalumbila

Trident are quietly swimming in the top four, while River Plate are floating dangerously close to relegation. On paper, it looks straightforward, but River might surprise if they can defend better than their leaky record suggests. Still, Trident are heavy favourites here.

Atletico Lusaka vs Locus FC – Nkoloma Stadium, Lusaka (September 28)

Atletico Lusaka fans are still wondering if their team showed up for the season. Rock bottom with just one point, they now face a Locus side fresh off a 4–0 demolition job. If Atletico don’t wake up, Locus could run riot again. Warning: this one could be ugly.

Makeni All Stars vs Indeni FC – Edwin Imboela, Lusaka (September 28)

Makeni have been electric, sitting third with four wins already. Indeni, meanwhile, are still winless after six games. Unless something dramatic changes, this looks like a one-way street, and Makeni might use it to boost their goal difference for fun.

Aguila Stars vs Ndola United – Reiz Arena, Lusaka (September 29)

Closing the weekend, Aguila face Ndola United in what promises to be a feisty clash. Aguila are mid-table but capable of brilliance, while Ndola United are stuck in reverse gear with just three points. If Aguila can find their shooting boots, this could be their chance to climb higher.
