Tembo Proud of Nkwazi’s Effort Despite Defeat to Power Dynamos

Masauso Tembo Pleased with Nkwazi’s Performance Despite Defeat to Power Dynamos

Nkwazi Football Club head coach Masauso Tembo has praised his players’ effort and discipline despite suffering a narrow 1–0 defeat to defending champions Power Dynamos in a Week 10 MTN Super League fixture at Arthur Davies Stadium on Sunday. The result marked Nkwazi’s fourth loss of the season and extended their winless run to ten matches, but Tembo insists there were positives to take from the performance.

The visitors made a shaky start after conceding a goal inside the opening minute, which disrupted their defensive structure. However, Tembo commended his players for regaining control and sticking to the game plan.

“Yes, not an easy game. I think the early goal destabilized us. Our plan was to contain. If you saw the goal, the mistake from the winger ended up in the goal, so we keep working,” Tembo said after the match.

Despite the setback, the coach noted that his team showed composure and tactical discipline for the remainder of the first half.

“I am happy with the way we played our first half; we contained them well. The early goal really destabilized us, but I am proud of the boys and the way they managed to handle the situation.”

Tembo acknowledged the difficulty of facing Power Dynamos at Arthur Davies Stadium, where the champions have turned their home ground into a fortress. He expressed satisfaction that his side managed to keep the scoreline tight against a team that usually wins by large margins.

“One–zero here at Arthur Davies — I think I am happy with my boys. This is Arthur Davies; you have to make a plan when you come here. If you don’t, you’ll lose 5–0,” he said. “We came with a plan, but that early goal in 50 seconds destabilized us. Still, I am happy with my boys; we contained it. We go back to work.”

Nkwazi’s organized defense and improved concentration were evident, limiting Power Dynamos’ attacking threats for most of the game.

The defeat leaves Nkwazi in the relegation zone with only six points collected from ten matches. Despite the pressure, Tembo remains optimistic that his side can turn things around if they continue to show the same fighting spirit.

The police-sponsored outfit will next host Mines United at Edwin Imboela Stadium, a crucial fixture that Tembo hopes will serve as a turning point. A victory could spark their revival and ease pressure on the team as they look to climb out of the bottom three.

Although results have been hard to come by, Nkwazi’s resilience against Power Dynamos offers hope for improvement. Coach Masauso Tembo’s belief in his players’ ability to fight and stay organized under pressure shows that the team’s foundation is strong. With focus now shifting to their home clash against Mines United, Nkwazi will be eager to convert positive performances into much-needed victories.
