Sabobo Joins Zambia Camp in Cairo
Cairo, Egypt – April 24, 2025
Switzerland-based winger Joseph Sabobo Banda has officially joined the Zambia U20 national team camp in Cairo ahead of the much-anticipated TotalEnergies U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The FC Zürich starlet arrived at Cairo International Airport at approximately 15:45 and wasted no time, immediately linking up with his teammates for their evening training session.
Sabobo’s arrival adds further firepower to Coach Boyd Mulwanda’s squad, which is gearing up for a competitive Group A campaign featuring hosts Egypt, Sierra Leone, South Africa, and Tanzania.
Zambia will begin their quest for continental glory on April 27, taking on Sierra Leone in their group stage opener. The tournament runs until May 18, with the top four finishers securing spots at the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup.
The inclusion of Sabobo, widely regarded as one of Zambia’s brightest young talents, is a timely boost as the Junior Chipolopolo prepare for one of their most crucial tournaments in recent years.
