Nkoloma Stadium Set for Thrilling Double Header in Zambian Premier League Week 10
By Samson Mulambya Bagba | November 4, 2023
The Zambian Premier League is set to ignite the footballing passion of fans this weekend as it enters week 10 of exhilarating action. With seven exciting matches scheduled for Saturday and two more to complete the round on Sunday, there’s plenty of footballing action to look forward to.
The spotlight this weekend will undoubtedly be on Nkoloma Stadium, where football aficionados will be treated to a double header featuring two mouth-watering encounters that promise drama, skill, and competition.
In the first clash, the rejuvenated Zanaco, currently sitting in 5th place, will host ZESCO United, who are just one spot above them at 4th. What makes this fixture even more intriguing is the reunion of Zanaco’s head coach, Wedson Nyirenda, with his former team, ZESCO United. The lunchtime kick-off is sure to get the adrenaline pumping for fans.
The second match of the day is no less captivating, as log leaders Red Arrows welcome the defending champions, Power Dynamos, who currently occupy the 7th position. However, it’s worth noting that Abayellow will be without their head coach, Mwenya Chipepo, who recently resigned due to alleged interference from club top officials. A win for Red Arrows will cement their top spot, while Power Dynamos will aim to break into the top four.
FC MUZA, positioned 3rd on the table, will aim to continue their impressive form as they host the troubled Prison Leopards, who are currently struggling in 16th place. After a recent 1-0 defeat to Nkana, the Correction Boys are keen to get back to winning ways, but the challenge of playing away at Nakambala Stadium will be no walk in the park. Interestingly, Prison Leopards have had the upper hand in their previous two meetings, having never been defeated by FC MUZA.
The action doesn’t stop there, as Coach Perry Mutapa’s Napsa, currently in 12th place, will face his former team, Forest Rangers, positioned 11th. This encounter is crucial for Napsa Stars, who have drawn their last two matches and are eager for a win.
Kabwe Warriors, in 2nd place and unbeaten in eight games, will look to maintain their unbeaten streak as they welcome Green Buffaloes, coached by Masauso Tembo, who currently stand at the 9th spot. Numba Mumamba’s Kabwe Warriors are tied on 18 points with Red Arrows at the summit of the table, making this clash even more enticing.
In other fixtures, Mutondo Stars, currently 6th, will host Konkola Blades, positioned 15th, and Trident FC, in the 18th place, will play host to Mufulira Wanderers, who are 10th on the table.
