Kabwe Warriors goalkeeper Mangani Banda has written his name into the history books by becoming the first goalkeeper in the 2025–26 MTN Super League season to record five consecutive clean sheets.
The 28-year-old has been in sensational form, helping the Warriors go on a five-game unbeaten run without conceding a single goal from 16th August to 20th September 2025. His consistency has been backed by a rock-solid defense, marshalled by Field Kandela, Yoram Chanda, and Killian Kanguluma.
Clean Sheet Run
Banda has kept clean sheets in all five opening matches, shutting out:
-
Kansanshi Dynamos
-
FC Leopards (Derby clash)
-
Nkwazi
-
Nkana
-
Green Buffaloes
This incredible streak has positioned Kabwe Warriors among the early pace-setters in the MTN Super League.
Mangani Banda Reflects on His Achievement
Speaking exclusively about his milestone, Banda credited the entire defensive unit:
“The key to our success has been our team’s solid defensive organization and communication. As goalkeepers, we work closely with our defenders to anticipate opposition attacks and make crucial interceptions.”
On staying motivated and focused, he added:
“It’s about setting personal goals and striving to achieve them. Every match is a new challenge, and I approach each one with a fresh mindset, focusing on the task at hand and giving my best.”
Banda also highlighted a standout save against FC Leopards:
“One save that stands out was a reflex save I made in our game against FC Leopards in the derby. The ball was heading straight for the top corner, and I managed to get my hand to it just in time. It was a crucial moment and really helped us maintain our clean sheet streak.”
Looking Ahead
The Warriors’ shot-stopper has set his sights on bigger goals for the rest of the campaign:
“My personal goal is to maintain this form and help Kabwe Warriors secure a top spot in the league and make a strong case for the Golden Glove Award. Ultimately, my goal is to contribute to the team’s success and help us challenge for trophies.”
And on breaking records:
“Yes, I do! I’d love to challenge the record for most consecutive clean sheets in the Zambian Premier League.”
Conclusion
With five consecutive shutouts, Mangani Banda has already carved out a special place in the 2025–26 MTN Super League season. If his form continues, he could not only push Kabwe Warriors toward the top but also etch his name among Zambia’s greatest goalkeepers.
