ZESCO United striker Kennedy Musonda has taken the lead in the 2026 MTN Super League Transitional Season Golden Boot race, reaching four goals after Week 5.
Musonda moved to the top of the scoring chart following his brace in ZESCO United’s 4-0 away victory over Roan United. The forward had also scored twice in the club’s emphatic 5-0 win over Mutondo Stars, giving him four goals in two matches.
Six players are currently chasing the ZESCO United striker on three goals. Nkana FC forward Lazarous Kambole is among the leading contenders, alongside Lewis Kasono from FC MUZA, Sam Sikasote from Trident. Kabwe Warriors’ Paul Tembo and Zanaco’s Lambert Araina have also scored three goals, as has another player listed among the leading scorers, keeping the race closely contested behind Musonda.
The next group features four players on two goals each. Joseph Ssemujju of Kansanshi Dynamos, Clive Biyeta of Konkola Blades, Joshua Mutale of Power Dynamos and Amity Shamende of Green Eagles complete the current top 10.
With the transitional season still progressing, Musonda has established an early advantage, but several players remain within reach. The coming fixtures will provide further opportunities for the chasing pack to reduce the gap as the battle for the league’s top scorer award continues.
