Nkana FC interim head coach Elijah Tana has described his side’s 1-0 victory over Kansanshi Dynamos as a tactical battle, praising the quality of the opposition coach, Denis Makinka, after Kalampa returned to the top of the 2026 ZPL Transitional League Stream A standings.
Charles Zulu scored the decisive goal in the 52nd minute at Nkana Stadium on Wednesday afternoon, securing maximum points for the Wusakile giants and taking their tally to 13 points from six matches.
Reflecting on the encounter, Tana acknowledged that Kansanshi Dynamos presented a difficult challenge, describing the contest as a game of chess because of the tactical familiarity between the two coaches.
“It was a tactical game. I know my young boy Makinka is a very good coach. He knows me and he knows my tricks, so for me, I can say it was just a game of chess,” Tana said.
The Nkana coach’s comments highlighted the tactical contest between the two technical benches, with both sides looking to gain an advantage against an opponent familiar with their approach.
Tana also praised the growing support from Nkana supporters, who have continued to turn up in numbers to watch the team.
“They are enjoying the play of Nkana. That’s why they are coming in numbers,” he said.
The victory leaves Nkana at the summit of Stream A with 13 points after six matches, having recorded four wins, one draw and one defeat.
Despite returning to the top of the standings, Tana and his technical bench will now turn their attention to the team’s upcoming assignments, including a rescheduled fixture against NAPSA Stars at REIZ Arena.
For Kansanshi Dynamos, the defeat leaves them sixth in Stream A with five points, as they look to regroup and return to winning ways.
