Trident Football Club have announced the immediate departure of head coach George Chilufya and his assistant Jackson Mwanza, ending their time at the club as they pursue new opportunities. While Trident have not confirmed their next destination, sources suggest that an agreement has been reached for the duo to take over at Kabwe Warriors ahead of the 2025/2026 MTN Super League season.
Official Club Statement
In a brief statement shared by Trident FC, the club expressed appreciation for the duo’s contributions:
“We are grateful for their service and commitment to the club. We wish them success in their future endeavors,” said Mvula Mangulenje, Chief Executive Officer.
Chilufya and Mwanza have been credited for their tactical discipline and leadership during their tenure with Trident, a side that recently competed in the top flight before being relegated at the end of the 2024/25 season.
Kabwe Warriors Bound?
Sources close to the situation have revealed that Chilufya and Mwanza are set to join Kabwe Warriors, with an official announcement expected soon. The Magnificent People’s Team have been searching for a new technical bench following the confirmed exits of head coach Albert Kachinga, assistant coach Chintu Kampamba, and experienced defender Kabaso Chongo.
The incoming coaching duo will be tasked with guiding Warriors into a new era as they aim to improve on last season’s mid-table finish in the MTN Super League.
A Rebuild in Motion
Kabwe Warriors’ backroom overhaul signals a major rebuild ahead of the new campaign. The arrival of Chilufya and Mwanza could bring much-needed stability and a fresh tactical approach to the team.
With the 2025/26 MTN Super League season just two months away, all eyes are now on Kabwe Warriors for the official unveiling of the pair.
