Fathi Targets First Away Win as Kansanshi Dynamos Visit Green Buffaloes

Kansanshi Dynamos Football Club have arrived in Lusaka for a crucial Week 14 fixture of the MTN Super League, with Head Coach Mohamed Fathi preparing for his first away match since taking over. The Miners face Green Buffaloes, a side aiming to stabilize their season as both teams look to improve their positions before the AFCON break.

A key detail heading into this match is the teams’ current standing on the log. Kansanshi Dynamos sit 16th with 10 points from 12 games, placing them in the relegation zone and in urgent need of momentum. Meanwhile, Green Buffaloes are 10th with 17 points from 13 matches, enjoying more stability but still battling inconsistency. A victory for Kansanshi could close the gap significantly and potentially lift them out of danger, while three points for Buffaloes could push them toward the top half of the table.

Fathi enters this match encouraged by the performance shown in his debut game, even though his side settled for a home draw.
“We played very good football and created a lot of chances,” he said. “But at the end of the day, it was a draw. I’m not happy with the draw — I want to win at home, and the players should also be hungry to win at home. We move forward and make our changes.”
The coach has already introduced a new tactical identity that players appear to be adjusting to quickly.

The Egyptian tactician praised his squad’s rapid adaptation to the new system.
“Most of them are adapting very fast. We changed the formation and the style of play, and so far so good,” he said. “We’re trying to pick maximum points from the next two games before the break. That will help us prepare and make some changes in January.”
The upcoming fixtures are therefore crucial, as they will determine how Kansanshi enter the mid-season break.

With the AFCON break approaching, Fathi views the period as an opportunity to recharge and rebuild.
“It’s good for us and good for the players. It gives them time to rest, and it gives us time to make changes. CAF regulations say no league games during AFCON, and we respect that. We’ll use the break wisely.”
For a team in Kansanshi’s position, the pause offers vital recovery time.

Heading into the Lusaka showdown, Fathi remains confident.
“I’ve always had good games against Buffaloes,” he said. “If we put everything together, I think we’re going to have a good game. I trust my players; they will put in maximum effort to get a positive result.”
The fixture’s history supports the expectation of a competitive match.
