Nkana Launch 300,000-Member Mobilisation Drive to Boost Stability and Commercial Strength
Nkana FC supporters have launched an ambitious nationwide membership mobilisation campaign aimed at recruiting 300,000 registered fans—a move designed to restore financial stability, rebuild structures, and elevate the club’s commercial value. With the Kitwe giants facing increasing pressure to modernize operations and generate sustainable revenue, supporters believe the future of the club lies in an organised, united, and empowered fan base.
The Nkana Supporters Council, led by chairman Emmanuel Zulu, is spearheading the initiative. The group says the mobilisation drive represents more than just numbers—it is a major step toward transforming Nkana into a professionally run football institution capable of attracting major sponsors, strengthening internal governance, and securing long-term survival.
With a K100 annual membership fee and a fully digital payment system, Nkana fans are confident that this drive will create transparency, restore trust, and position the club as one of the most commercially attractive teams in Zambian football.
Building a Strong, Structured and Accountable Support Base
Speaking during the launch, Supporters Council chairman Emmanuel Zulu emphasised that Nkana’s greatest strength has always been its massive fan base. However, he explained that the time had come to organise this support into a structured and accountable system that directly contributes to the club’s stability.
Zulu said the mobilisation effort aims to “organize and formalize Nkana’s large support base into a structured, accountable, and financially empowered movement.” He noted that the club’s challenges require predictable revenue and unity, which can only be achieved through an official, registered membership.
He stressed that this initiative marks the foundation for rebuilding Nkana FC:
“The club needs stability, unity, and predictable revenue, and that starts with a strong, registered fan base. This is the foundation for rebuilding the club.”
By transforming casual supporters into fully registered members, Nkana hopes to reduce dependency on uncertain gate takings and donor contributions, shifting instead toward a sustainable, fan-driven financial model.
K100 Membership Fee to Create Reliable Revenue Stream
As part of the mobilisation, every new member will pay a K100 annual membership fee, which Zulu says is central to the sustainability plan. The fee is not just symbolic—it is a practical contribution meant to establish a reliable and consistent revenue stream that strengthens transparency and long-term planning.
Zulu explained that,
“The K100 membership gives Nkana a reliable support-driven revenue stream, strengthens transparency, builds a credible database, and creates a powerful collective voice.”
He added that even the smallest supporter can now become part of the solution:
“For just K100, every supporter becomes part of the solution to the club’s financial and structural challenges.”
If the 300,000-member target is achieved, Nkana would generate K30 million annually, instantly making the club one of the most financially stable teams in the country.
A Transparent, Digital System to Build Trust
To address concerns about mismanagement, Zulu highlighted that the entire membership system will run on a secure electronic payment platform. Supporters will have access to digital receipts, real-time name registration, and clear financial tracking.
Zulu explained:
“All membership payments go through an electronic platform where names and amounts reflect instantly. Regular financial updates are being shared… and independent audits will be encouraged to ensure accountability and trust.”
This level of transparency is intended to restore confidence among supporters who have, in recent years, expressed frustration over unclear financial handling within the club.
A Commercial Powerhouse in the Making
Zulu also stressed that a properly verified, digitally registered database of 300,000 supporters would make Nkana FC a dominant force in sports marketing across Zambia. Brands and corporate sponsors are increasingly seeking clubs with structured fan bases and verifiable engagement numbers.
He stated,
“It should be noted that a club with a verified database of 300,000 supporters becomes a commercial powerhouse. Sponsors want numbers, structure, and guaranteed engagement. This mobilization will position Nkana as a top marketing platform for major brands.”
Such numbers would transform Nkana into one of the most attractive sponsorship destinations, competing with the top commercial clubs in the region.
