Zesco Ndola Girls Ready for COSAFA Battle in South Africa

Zesco Ndola Girls have left for Johannesburg, South Africa aboard Zambia Airways ahead of their debut at the CAF Women’s Champions League | COSAFA Qualifiers 2025.

The Ndola-based side becomes the second Zambian club to feature in the regional competition after Green Buffaloes, who have represented the country in the previous four editions.

Buffaloes famously lifted the title in 2022 after defeating Mamelodi Sundowns in a dramatic penalty shootout.

ZESCO have been placed in Group A alongside champions Mamelodi Sundowns, Namibia’s Beauties FC and Malawi’s Ntopwa FC.

Their participation comes after a remarkable domestic campaign in which they went the entire season unbeaten, sealing the league title with 31 wins and three draws in 34 matches.

The team’s success was spearheaded by striker and ZPL Women’s Player of the Year winner Penelope Mulubwa, who netted an incredible 35 goals to help end Green Buffaloes’ four-year hold on the title.
