RED ARROWS OPEN UP FOUR POINT LEAD OVER GREEN EAGLES
Twiza Chaibela’s 80th -minute winner helped Red Arrows beat Forest rangers 2-1to come from behind and open up a four-point gap over Green Eagles at the top of the MTN Super League table. Green Eagles who could have been supporting Forest Rangers in this encounter closed the gap to one after beating Chambishi 1-0 in Choma on Saturday.
But then Red Arrows came into this match in good form, having lost only once in 20 games and their previous five matches show a very resurgent team that despite going down are able to pick points. However, they had appeared nervy in their previous two encounters, having won to the death of the Prison Leopards game and a near loss to Konkola Blades.
And it looks to be another tense affair for Chisi Mbewe‘s men after going down to Clifford Mulenga goal in the 32ns minute. But a 32nd equalizer from Freddy Tshimenga brought life into a Red Arrows side that should start believing that they can bag this league title. Twiza Chaibela rounded up a perfect afternoon for the airmen as he got a winner in the 80th minute.
Forest Rangers stay twelfth after the defeat, while Red Arrows will finish the weekend in first place with 9 games to play before the end of the league.
Arrows will win the league if they win 8 of the nine games regardless of the rest of the teams, YES Red Arrows should start counting.
