Pyramids FC Snap Up ZESCO United Winger Pascal Phiri on Long-Term Deal

Egyptian Premier League giants Pyramids FC have confirmed the signing of 20-year-old Zambian winger Pascal Phiri from ZESCO United, making him their third acquisition of the January winter transfer window.

Phiri, born on 17 July 2005, has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him at the Cairo-based club until June 2029. Due to Pyramids’ current foreign player quota being full, the winger will initially be registered with the club’s youth setup, with a clear pathway laid out for his gradual integration into the senior team.

Highly rated in Zambia, Phiri is regarded as one of the country’s most exciting emerging wide players. Comfortable operating on the right flank, he combines pace, directness, and technical ability—qualities that attracted Pyramids’ scouting network. The Egyptian club described him as a player with significant long-term potential, fitting their model of blending youth with ambition.

On the international stage, Phiri has represented Zambia at several youth levels and earned his senior national team debut in a friendly against the Democratic Republic of Congo in December 2025. Despite that milestone, he was left out of Zambia’s most recent Africa Cup of Nations squad, a decision that has done little to slow his upward trajectory.

Phiri’s arrival follows the recent signings of Palestinian midfielder Hamed Hamdan from Petrojet and playmaker Nasser Maher from Zamalek, underlining Pyramids’ intent to strengthen aggressively as they push for silverware both domestically and on the continent.

Currently, Pyramids sit second in the Egyptian Premier League with 27 points, five behind leaders Ceramica Cleopatra, but crucially with two games in hand that could see them move to the top of the table. In the CAF Champions League, the Egyptian side are also second in their group, level on points with RS Berkane but behind on goal difference, while holding a healthy six-point gap over Rivers United in third place.

Pyramids are back in league action against El Gouna on Wednesday before hosting RS Berkane in Cairo on Saturday in a decisive Champions League fixture. As he begins life in Egypt, Phiri will be eager to impress and position himself for a senior breakthrough as his European-style development journey gathers momentum.
