Power Dynamos Extend Lead to Six Points with Victory Over Mutondo Stars
Power Dynamos took a significant step towards securing their eighth MTN Super League title after a solid 2-0 victory over Mutondo Stars at a packed Arthur Davies Stadium. The league leaders made no mistake in the mini-Kitwe derby, putting on a commanding performance to stretch their unbeaten run to nine matches.
Mulambia and Mumba on Target as Power Dynamos Dominate
It took just 22 minutes for Frederick Mulambia to open the scoring, setting the hosts on course for another crucial three points. Prince Mumba doubled the advantage in the 32nd minute, sealing the win for Oswald Mutapa’s men, who played as the “away” side at their own stadium due to Mutondo Stars hosting the match.
With this victory, Power Dynamos have now amassed 54 points, moving six points ahead of Zesco United, who will be in action on Thursday against Green Buffaloes at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
Power Dynamos’ Unstoppable Form Continues
This latest triumph further underlines Power Dynamos’ remarkable turnaround after a difficult run between December 7, 2024, and January 11, 2025, where they went five games without a win. Since then, Mutapa’s team has rediscovered its rhythm, stringing together a run of seven consecutive victories and establishing themselves as the team to beat.
The result also came on the same week Oswald Mutapa was crowned BolaNews Coach of the Month for February, a recognition of his team’s impressive resurgence. The Power Dynamos coach, often likened to Jose Mourinho, continues to guide his squad toward what could be another historic title.
Mutondo Stars Struggle as Relegation Woes Deepen
For Mutondo Stars, the defeat extended their winless run to four matches, their last victory coming on February 15 against Indeni. The loss leaves them languishing in the relegation zone with 29 points, in desperate need of a turnaround to avoid dropping into the National Division One League.
What’s Next?
Power Dynamos will shift their focus to their next fixture as they aim to tighten their grip on the title race. Meanwhile, all eyes will be on Zesco United’s clash with Green Buffaloes, as the second-placed side looks to reduce the gap at the top.
