Zambian international Prisca Chilufya has completed a move to Los Angeles-based Angel City FC from Orlando Pride, both clubs have confirmed. The Copper Queens forward joins the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) side in a deal valued at $50,000 in 2025 intraleague transfer funds, with Orlando Pride also receiving a 2025 international roster spot as part of the trade.
Details of the Transfer Deal
The transaction marks a significant career step for Chilufya, who swaps Florida for Los Angeles after one season with the Pride.
“The Orlando Pride has received $50,000 in 2025 intraleague transfer funds from Angel City FC in exchange for forward Prisca Chilufya and a 2025 international roster spot,” the club announced.
This move underscores Angel City’s ambition to strengthen its attacking options with a dynamic and pacey forward known for her versatility and work rate in the final third.
Orlando Pride’s Reaction to Chilufya’s Departure
Orlando Pride Vice President and Sporting Director Haley Carter expressed appreciation for Chilufya’s professionalism and contributions during her time at the club.
“Prisca has played an important role in the Club’s journey this season, both on and off the pitch,” said Carter.
“We are thankful for her contributions and her positive influence on her teammates and staff this season. She will always be a part of the Pride family and we wish her continued success in the future.”
Chilufya leaves Orlando Pride having made a strong impression both in domestic and continental competitions.
Chilufya’s Record with Orlando Pride
Since joining Orlando Pride from FC Juárez (Liga MX Femenil) ahead of the 2025 season, Chilufya made 20 appearances, scoring two goals and providing one assist in all competitions.
Her first NWSL goal came on May 10, when she headed home a corner in stoppage time to secure a 1–1 draw against North Carolina Courage. Her second came against Utah Royals on August 3, again earning the Pride a valuable point.
In continental action, Chilufya registered her only assist in the Concacaf W Champions Cup, setting up Julie Doyle in a 5–0 win over Chorrillo FC.
Career Background
Before her stint in the NWSL, Chilufya starred for FC Juárez, netting 14 goals in 48 appearances between 2023 and 2024. She previously played for Fatih Karagümrük in Turkey, scoring four goals in seven matches in the TFF 1. Lig.
Her consistency and attacking flair have also made her a key figure for the Zambia Women’s National Team, the Copper Queens, where she continues to play a vital role in both continental and World Cup qualifiers.
Conclusion
Prisca Chilufya’s switch to Angel City FC presents a new challenge and opportunity to shine in one of the most competitive women’s leagues in the world. As she begins her new chapter in Los Angeles, Zambian fans will be eager to see her continue to fly the national flag high in the NWSL.
