MTN Super League side Nchanga Rangers have confirmed the departure of seven players as the club continues reshaping its squad ahead of the 2026 Transitional League season.
Among those leaving the Chingola-based outfit are Burkinabe striker Traoré Aboubacar and Nigerian midfielder Pepo Ifoni, both of whom depart just six months after joining the club.
The announcement comes as Nchanga Rangers prepare for another campaign under head coach George Lwandamina following his recent contract extension.
Seven Players Exit
According to the club, the contracts of Traoré Aboubacar, Pepo Ifoni, Friday Samu, Gift Zulu and Mohamed Soumahoro have expired and will not be renewed.
Meanwhile, left-back Stanley Chisenga and winger Mwila Kalumba have left the club by mutual agreement.
In a statement, Nchanga Rangers confirmed the departures.
“The club also announces the departure of left-back Stanley Chisenga and winger Mwila Kalumba following mutual agreements between both parties.”
“In addition, Burkinabe striker Traore Aboubacor, Nigerian midfielder Pepo Ifoni, striker Friday Samu, right-back Gift Zulu, and Ivorian striker Mohamed Soumahoro will not be part of the squad for the upcoming Transitional League season following the expiry of their contracts.”
Club Pays Tribute
Nchanga Rangers thanked all seven players for their commitment and contribution during their time at the club.
“Nchanga Rangers Football Club extends its sincere appreciation to all departing players for their service and contribution to the club and wishes them success in their future endeavors.”
The club also confirmed that supporters can expect announcements regarding new signings once transfer negotiations have been completed.
Trio Returns From Loan
While several players have left, Nchanga Rangers have also welcomed back three members of the squad following successful loan spells.
Fred Mwila, Ndonji Nkandu and Abel Mulenga have all returned after featuring for Chambishi FC and Mutondo Stars during the 2025/26 season.
The trio will now compete for places in George Lwandamina’s squad ahead of the new campaign.
Focus Turns to Recruitment
With seven players departing and three returning from loan, attention now shifts to Nchanga Rangers’ activity in the transfer market.
The club has already indicated that announcements regarding new arrivals will be made once negotiations are finalised, suggesting more squad changes are expected in the coming weeks.
Conclusion
Nchanga Rangers have wasted little time beginning their squad restructuring ahead of the Transitional League season.
Following the departure of seven players and the return of three loanees, George Lwandamina and his technical bench will now focus on adding fresh faces as they look to build on last season’s progress.
