Manchi Janza Appointed Trident FC Head Coach

ZPL National League side Trident FC have officially confirmed the appointment of Manchi Janza as head coach ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. As earlier reported, the 44-year-old tactician joins the Northwestern Province outfit on a one-year deal, with an option to extend, as the club eyes promotion to the MTN Super League.

Leadership Structure Finalized

In a statement released by the club, Trident FC expressed their confidence in Janza’s leadership:

“Trident Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Manchi Janza as the new Head Coach, with immediate effect.”

Janza, who holds a CAF A Diploma, will be assisted by Arnold Malisawa as Assistant Coach, Graven Chitalu as Physical Trainer, and Isaac Shimoko as Goalkeeper Coach. The new technical bench is tasked with rejuvenating the squad after Trident narrowly missed out on promotion during the 2024/25 season.

Coaching Background and Experience

Manchi Janza brings with him a wealth of experience built over nearly a decade at Lusaka Dynamos, where he worked under high-profile coaches including Perry Mutapa, Patrick Phiri, Dan Kabwe, Ian Bakala, Wedson Nyirenda, and Chris Kaunda.

His big break came in 2022, when he was promoted to head coach of Lusaka Dynamos, leading the team during the 2022/23 National League campaign. More recently, he served as assistant coach at Forest Rangers under head coach Mwenya Chipepo, a role he took up in 2023.

Taking Over From George Chilufya

Janza replaces George Chilufya, who departed earlier this month to take over as head coach at Kabwe Warriors. Chilufya’s exit left a gap at Trident FC, and the club has moved swiftly to secure a replacement with deep domestic experience and developmental focus.

Ambitions for the 2025/26 Season

The new head coach is expected to mount a strong challenge for MTN Super League promotion, after Trident fell short in the final week of the 2024/25 campaign. With a technical bench now in place, Trident’s preparations are set to intensify ahead of pre-season.

Conclusion

With a blend of technical expertise, youth development knowledge, and National League experience, Manchi Janza’s appointment marks a fresh chapter in Trident FC’s push to join the Zambian topflight. All eyes will now be on the Conquerors as they plot their 2025/26 campaign with renewed ambition.
