Kampamba Returns to ZESCO United Training After Resolving Internal Disput
ZESCO United attacking midfielder Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba, popularly known as Kemuka, has officially returned to training with the Ndola giants after weeks of uncertainty surrounding his future. The player was previously sidelined due to internal disagreements, but the club has now confirmed that the matter has been resolved through constructive dialogue.
The experienced midfielder had reportedly fallen out with the technical bench and club management after he and two other senior players sought clarification regarding group-stage bonuses for the CAF Confederation Cup. According to widely circulated reports, the inquiry led to disciplinary action that saw the former Nkana and Power Dynamos star excluded from team activities.
ZESCO United, through a formal statement, confirmed that the situation has been addressed. In the club’s communication, they emphasised their commitment to unity and maintaining a harmonious working environment. The statement noted that management, the technical staff, and the player engaged in open dialogue to address the concerns raised.
Part of the statement reads:
“We’re pleased to confirm that Kelvin ‘Kemuka’ Kampamba is back in the fold. After recent issues, the club management has engaged in an open dialogue with the player and technical team, anchored in our belief that success comes through unity.”
The club further stated that Kampamba is expected to rejoin full training immediately, reinstating him into the squad after an amicable agreement was reached. The statement continued:
“We’re delighted to report that the matter has been resolved amicably – and Kelvin is scheduled to re-join the squad in training today. We call on all fans to welcome him with the same passion and support he’s always received. Together, we move forward – united, stronger and ready to fight for our colours!”
The Zambia Daily Mail earlier reported that Kampamba was dropped from the matchday squad for seeking information on how much players would earn following ZESCO United’s qualification to the CAF Confederation Cup group stage. Clubs reaching this phase are guaranteed USD 400,000, equivalent to over K9.1 million.
Kampamba’s return is expected to boost the squad as ZESCO intensifies preparations for domestic and continental duties. His experience, creativity, and ability to influence games will be key as the electricity men balance league commitments with the demands of continental football.
Conclusion
Kemuka’s reinstatement brings stability back to ZESCO United at a crucial stage of the season. With internal issues resolved, the Ndola outfit can now shift full focus to on-field performance as they prepare for the CAF Confederation Cup group stage and continue pursuing success in the domestic league.
