Konkola Blades have officially announced the signing of Kelvin Kapumbu, with the Chipolopolo midfielder putting pen to paper on a two-year deal as they continue to bolster their squad ahead of the 2025/26 MTN Super League season.
As earlier reported by Bola Yapa Zed, the club-to-club agreement was finalized in late June, with all terms agreed between Blades and Kapumbu’s previous club Zanaco FC.
From Petah Tikva to Konkola: Kapumbu’s Journey
Kapumbu, a seasoned defensive midfielder, rejoined Zanaco in October 2024 after a spell with ZESCO United and Petah Tikva in Israel. The 28-year-old is well-regarded for his tireless work rate, positional discipline, and ability to break up opposition play—a skill set that has made him a regular call-up for the Zambia National Team.
His arrival at Konkola Blades marks a significant addition to the midfield unit, and he’s expected to bring both leadership and experience to a squad aiming to make a strong impact in the top flight.
Busy Transfer Window for the Sharp Razor
Kapumbu’s signing is the third major addition by the Chililabombwe-based side, who are clearly intent on competing seriously next season. Blades have already secured the services of 2024 National League Golden Boot winner Golden Zansi, along with creative midfielder Benjamin Saile.
With the MTN Super League becoming increasingly competitive, Blades are assembling a squad capable of matching the pace and intensity of Zambia’s top-tier teams.
Club Statement
“Kelvin Kapumbu is a fantastic addition to our team. His experience at both local and international level will be vital as we prepare for the new season,” a source at Konkola Blades told Bola Yapa Zed.
