Kansanshi Dynamos Relieve Donewell Yobe of Duties
Kansanshi Dynamos have made significant changes to their technical team following their relegation from the MTN Super League in the 2023/2024 season. The club has announced the departure of Head Coach Donewell Yobe as part of a broader strategy to improve performance and ensure a quick return to the top tier of Zambian football.
In an official statement, the club declared:
“Kansanshi Dynamos Football Club wishes to announce that the club will not continue with the services of Head Coach Donewell Yobe for the coming season. This decision follows the team’s performance in the just-ended season, which resulted in the team’s demotion from the MTN Super League. The club will announce Coach Yobe’s successor in due course before the team starts preparations for the next season.”
Technical Adviser Patrick Phiri, whose contract will not be renewed, also exits the club. The former Chipolopolo boss was brought in to help fight relegation but was unable to save the team from the drop.
The club has further parted ways with Goalkeeper Trainer Ceaser Ndjovu and Team Manager Kanema Chizombu. Ndjovu spent two seasons with Kansanshi Dynamos, while Chizombu dedicated eight years to the club.

The club’s President, Douglas Nyirenda, expressed gratitude for the departing staff:
“The club, through its President Douglas Nyirenda, wishes to extend sincere gratitude to these individuals for their service and commitment to the club. These decisions are part of the club’s broader strategy to establish a steady, improved working culture and ensure a swift return to the top tier of Zambian football. The club also wishes to thank its fans and other stakeholders for their continued support and understanding as we navigate this transitional period.”
Kansanshi Dynamos are now focused on restructuring and preparing for the upcoming season in the lower division. The announcement of a new head coach and additional staff will be critical steps in the club’s plan to bounce back and regain their place in the MTN Super League.
Fans and stakeholders remain hopeful and supportive as the club embarks on this new chapter, aiming for a return to glory and stronger performances in the seasons to come.
