Kabwe Warriors Stun Zesco to Take League Summit
Kabwe Warriors delivered a statement performance in Week 14 of the MTN Super League by defeating Zesco United 2-0 at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium. The win propelled the Warriors to the top of the league table with 28 points, showcasing their growing dominance under coach Mumamba Numba. Gabriel Banda opened the scoring in the sixth minute, and Francis Banda doubled the lead early in the second half, sealing an impressive victory against the Ndola giants.
This victory marked Kabwe Warriors’ eighth win of the season, displacing Zesco United from the summit of the standings. The Warriors displayed discipline and determination, thwarting Zesco’s attempts to rally back into the game. It was a bittersweet moment for coach Mumamba Numba, who masterminded the win against his former team.

Zesco United, now second with 26 points, struggled to assert themselves in the match, falling behind early and failing to recover. Their attacking efforts lacked the precision needed to break down Kabwe Warriors’ well-organized defense.
Kabwe Warriors’ resurgence in the league has made them one of the teams to watch this season. With their recent performances, they have positioned themselves as strong contenders for the title, holding a two-point advantage over Zesco and three over Power Dynamos.
The fans and players celebrated the Warriors’ ascent to the top, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining the momentum as the league progresses. Their consistency and resilience have set a high benchmark in this year’s MTN Super League campaign.
