“Football Has Been Killed!” – Atletico Lusaka Coach Explodes
Atletico Lusaka head coach Brian Kunsanama didn’t hold back after his team’s 3-2 defeat to ZESCO United a result that confirmed their relegation from the Zambia Super League.
Kunsanama blasted the appointment of referee Maimba Katiti, a serving Zambia National Service (ZNS) officer, as a “national embarrassment” and a glaring conflict of interest, especially with Green Eagles a ZNS-sponsored team also in the relegation fight.
“Football has been killed by whoever appointed a ZNS official to officiate our game,” Kunsanama fumed.
He cited a “dubious penalty” as one of many questionable decisions and questioned the neutrality of a referee with direct links to a club in the same survival race.
“He’s done his job. They’re praising him. He’s being promoted. This is not football it’s a mockery,” he added.
Kunsanama’s rant also included a powerful jab:
“Where on earth have you seen a Zambian referee officiate Zambia vs Egypt? You know why? They don’t trust our integrity.”
