Record 13-time MTN Super League champions Nkana Football Club have received a major boost ahead of the 2026/27 season after their FIFA transfer ban was officially lifted.
The development means the Wusakile-based outfit can now register new players during the current transfer window after successfully resolving the issues that had restricted their transfer activities.
Nkana no longer appear on FIFA’s Registration Ban List, a significant breakthrough for the Kitwe giants as they begin preparations for the new campaign.
Registration Restrictions End
The lifting of the ban allows Kalampa to return to the transfer market and strengthen their squad, subject to FIFA and FAZ regulations.
The restrictions stemmed from unresolved contractual disputes involving former players, which prevented the club from registering new signings and complicated recruitment plans.
With the matter now resolved, Nkana can focus fully on rebuilding the squad ahead of the upcoming season.
Players Linked to the Ban
Among the players whose contractual disputes contributed to the registration restrictions were Cameroonian defender Dimitri Njalla, Congolese midfielder Mousa Lemisa and striker David Kabala.
The cases had remained a major obstacle for the club, limiting its ability to refresh the squad during previous transfer windows.
The latest development represents an important step towards restoring normal operations at one of Zambia’s most successful football clubs.
Important Season Ahead
The timing of the decision could not be better for Nkana.
Kalampa endured a difficult 2025/26 campaign, spending much of the season battling relegation before eventually securing survival.
The Kitwe giants finished 13th on the MTN Super League table with 39 points, well below the standards expected by their passionate supporters.
With the transfer ban now lifted, club officials will be hoping to strengthen key areas of the squad and help Elijah Tana build a more competitive team.
Conclusion
For Nkana FC, the lifting of the FIFA transfer ban marks the end of a challenging chapter and the beginning of a crucial rebuilding process.
With the freedom to register new players restored, Kalampa can now focus on strengthening the squad and ensuring that last season’s relegation battle becomes a thing of the past.
