Nkana Football Club have continued their recruitment drive ahead of the 2026/27 season with the signing of midfielder Abel Kanyamuna on a permanent two-and-a-half-year contract.
The 24-year-old joins the Kitwe giants from Atletico Lusaka Football Club, where he served as captain and established himself as one of the club’s key players.
Kanyamuna arrives at Wusakile bringing valuable experience from both local and European football as Kalampa continue strengthening their squad for the new campaign.
European Experience
The midfielder’s football journey has seen him gain exposure in some of Europe’s competitive football environments.
Kanyamuna previously spent time with Portuguese side CD Trofense and Italian Serie A club Cagliari Calcio, where he featured for the club’s Under-17 and Under-19 teams.
His performances also earned him call-ups to Cagliari’s senior squad, highlighting the potential that made him one of Zambia’s promising young talents.
Leadership Qualities
Nkana Chief Executive Officer Mwansa Kapyanga believes the midfielder’s experience and leadership credentials will add significant value to the team.
“Abel is a player with an impressive football background and exposure to different football environments.”
“Beyond his ability on the pitch, he has demonstrated leadership qualities throughout his career, including captaining Atletico Lusaka.”
Kapyanga also expressed confidence that Kanyamuna has the qualities needed to make a positive impact at the club.
“We believe he has the character, experience and quality to contribute positively to Nkana Football Club.”
“We are delighted to welcome him and look forward to seeing him help drive the team forward.”
Another Statement Signing
The acquisition of Kanyamuna continues a busy transfer period for Nkana following the lifting of their FIFA transfer ban.
The club has already moved aggressively in the market as they look to rebuild after a challenging 2025/26 campaign that saw them battle relegation for much of the season.
With his technical ability, leadership experience and European exposure, Kanyamuna is expected to strengthen competition in midfield.
Conclusion
Nkana’s ambition ahead of the new season is becoming increasingly clear.
The signing of Abel Kanyamuna adds experience, leadership and quality to Elijah Tana’s squad as Kalampa continue laying the foundations for a stronger campaign in 2026/27.
