Edward Chilufya Joins Hapoel Jerusalem on Loan from FC Midtjylland

Zambia international Edward Chilufya has joined Israeli top-flight side Hapoel Jerusalem on loan from Danish club FC Midtjylland for the remainder of the 2026/27 season.

The 26-year-old attacking player, who joined Midtjylland in 2022, will spend the rest of the campaign in Israel as he looks to secure more regular first-team football. Chilufya has made 116 appearances for the Danish club, scoring 13 goals and providing 12 assists during his time with the side.

The Zambia international has previously spent time away from Midtjylland on loan, having featured for Swedish club BK Häcken. He will now take on another challenge in Israel with Hapoel Jerusalem, who currently sit 13th in the Israeli Premier League, Ligat Ha’Al.

Midtjylland sporting director Kristian Bach Bak praised Chilufya’s professionalism while explaining the decision to allow him to leave on loan.

“Chilufya is incredibly professional and has brought a lot of positives to the club. Despite the tough competition for the attacking positions and the limited playing time, he has delivered when he has been given the chance.”

Bak believes the move can provide Chilufya with the opportunity to feature more consistently.

“We believe that a loan move is a good opportunity for him in the hunt for more playing minutes.”

Chilufya began his professional career in Zambia before moving to Europe, where he established himself with Swedish club Djurgårdens IF before earning his move to FC Midtjylland.

He will now look to make an immediate impact at Hapoel Jerusalem and use the remainder of the campaign to regain regular playing time as he continues his career in European football.
