Green Buffaloes Maintain Top Spot After Draw with ZESCO Ndola Girls
In a highly anticipated clash between the top two teams in the FAZ Women’s Super League, Green Buffaloes managed to retain their position at the summit after securing a hard-fought 1-1 draw against ZESCO Ndola Girls at the Trade Fair ground in Ndola.
The encounter began with both teams showcasing their attacking prowess, but it was ZESCO Ndola Girls who drew first blood, with Avell Chitundu finding the back of the net in the 23rd minute. However, Green Buffaloes responded swiftly, as striker Agness Phiri equalized from a freekick just nine minutes later, ensuring the scores were level heading into the halftime break.

Despite both teams pushing for a winner in the second half, neither could find the breakthrough, and the match ended in a stalemate. The draw sees Green Buffaloes maintain their position at the top of the table with 65 points, level with ZESCO Ndola Girls but holding a superior goal difference of five goals.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the league, third-placed Indeni Roses delivered a dominant performance, thrashing Kabwe Celtic Queens 9-0 at the Indeni Sports Complex. Striker Noria Sosala stole the show with a remarkable hat-trick, supported by goals from Esther Mukwasa, Thelma Phiri, Natasha Kampombo, Grace Mulaisho, Rhodah Chileshe (from the penalty spot), and Sibongile Banda.
In another exciting fixture, ZANACO Ladies secured a vital 3-2 victory over ZISD Women at Independence Stadium in Lusaka. Regina Chanda was the hero for ZANACO, netting a sensational hat-trick to propel her team to victory, despite Lungowe Namasiku’s brace for ZISD Women.
As the FAZ Women’s Super League continues to unfold, the title race remains closely contested, with Green Buffaloes, ZESCO Ndola Girls, and Indeni Roses all vying for top honors.
