Elizabeth Mupeso Transfers to Zesco Ndola Girls
Copper Queens midfielder Elizabeth Mupeso has made a significant move in her football career, leaving Elite Ladies to join Zesco Ndola Girls ahead of the upcoming Zambian Women’s Super League season. The transfer, which has been officially confirmed by Elite Ladies, is valued at K15,000.
“Master Dribbler Elizabeth Mupeso, who joined The Elite Ladies FC in 2020 from Green Eagles Women’s Football Club for K2,000, has joined ZESCO Ndola Girls in a deal worth K15,000,” Elite Ladies announced in a statement on Thursday.
A Rising Star’s Journey
Mupeso began her football journey with Chibolya Queens before making a name for herself at Nkwazi Queens. Her impressive performances caught the eye of national selectors, earning her spots in both the Lusaka Schools provincial team and Zambia’s U13 and U17 national teams. In 2022, Mupeso’s talent was recognized when she was named the second-best midfielder in the Women’s League, further solidifying her reputation as one of Zambia’s rising stars.
Since making her debut for the Copper Queens, Mupeso has made 10 appearances, contributing three goals and four assists. Her influence on the pitch was also evident at the 2022 COSAFA Women’s Championship, where she scored two goals in five matches, helping Zambia secure a bronze medal.
New Challenges Await
Mupeso’s move to Zesco Ndola Girls marks a new chapter in her career as she looks to make an impact with her new club. The upcoming 2024/25 Women’s Super League season will see her face off against her former team, Elite Ladies, in the league opener at Woodlands Stadium on Friday. This high-stakes match will undoubtedly be a test of her abilities and a showcase of her skills against familiar faces.
The transfer is not only a step up for Mupeso but also a significant move for Zesco Ndola Girls as they bolster their squad for the season ahead. With Mupeso’s proven track record, she is expected to be a key player for the Ndola-based club as they aim to challenge for the title.
