Copper Queens Drawn in Group A for WAFCON 2024

The Zambia Women’s National Team, the Copper Queens, has been placed in Group A for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2024. The tournament, to be hosted in Morocco from July 5–26, 2025, will see Zambia face the hosts Morocco, Senegal, and DR Congo in a challenging group.

Key players like Barbra Banda and Racheal Kundananji are set to bolster Zambia’s squad, with both strikers poised to make impactful appearances after missing the 2022 edition. The Copper Queens, third-place finishers in 2022, will aim to advance from the tough group and challenge for the title.

Defending champions South Africa will compete in Group C against Ghana, Mali, and Tanzania, while record 11-time champions Nigeria lead Group B alongside Tunisia, Algeria, and Botswana.

The tournament’s rescheduling to 2025 avoids a clash with the Paris Olympics, making it a unique WAFCON edition that promises intense competition.
