Avram Grant, has his sights set on a grander prize than just qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). While he considers qualifying for the AFCON as a short-term goal, his ultimate objective is to guide Zambia to their first-ever appearance at the men’s FIFA World Cup.
The Chipolopolo, as the Zambian national team is affectionately known, took a significant step towards AFCON qualification by defeating Lesotho over two legs to secure the top spot in Group H with nine points. They now need just one point to secure their place at the 2023 AFCON.
However, Grant, who has previously led Ghana to the AFCON finals, knows that his team’s success cannot be measured by just qualifying for AFCON. He believes that Zambia has the potential to become a force to be reckoned with in world football and that his players are capable of making history by qualifying for the FIFA World Cup.

The Zambian football fans can rest assured that their team has a coach who is not content with just participating in regional tournaments but is instead focused on taking the Chipolopolo to new heights.
