Kashala Pledges to Tackle Match Fixing in Zambian Football

Former FAZ Secretary General Adrian Kashala has vowed to eliminate match-fixing in Zambian football if elected as the next Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president at the elective annual general meeting this Saturday.

Kashala is among four candidates challenging incumbent FAZ president Andrew Kamanga for the top position. Other contenders include FC MUZA owner Keith Mweemba, former Chipolopolo vice-captain Emmanuel Munaile, and outgoing FAZ committee member Francis Hafwiti.

“We Must Stamp Out Match Fixing” – Kashala

In his latest campaign message, Kashala hinted at the existence of match-fixing in Zambian football, stating that he would take decisive action to eradicate it.

“We are determined to deliver football transformation. Enhanced training, improved monetary conditions for our coaches and referees, and ensuring we stamp out match-fixing in our game.”

Match-fixing has long been a major concern in Zambian football, with current FAZ president Kamanga recently urging referees to avoid engaging in the practice.

FAZ Elections Set to Shape the Future of Zambian Football

As the Zambia Premier League season nears its business end, suspicions of match manipulation tend to increase, especially with some teams battling for honors while others play purely for pride.

With Kashala making match-fixing a key campaign issue, his promises could influence FAZ councillors as they prepare to vote in the highly anticipated election.
