
It’s day 8 in Australia and New Zealand where the the 2023 FIFA world cup is taking place. Several matches have been played with teams fighting to qualify to the knockout round.
Yesterday, Canada claimed a close 2-1 win over the Republic of Ireland, while Group C’s two qualifying teams were decided after Spain and Japan took their second victory.
A massive day of thick and fast football was on today the 27th of July 2023 between powerful teams. Nigeria played against the co- hosts Australia in which Nigeria thrashed Australia with 3 goals to 2 putting the African team on top of group B.
While what looked like a repeat of 2019 final match between USA and Netherlands ended in a draw. However It was Netherlands who scored in the first half through their midfielder Jill Roord and USA’s Lindsey Horan equalised the score in the second half. Both of this teams have 4 points in group E and are expected to play their next matches on 1st of August 2023.
Another thrilling show in group E was between Portugal and Vietnam where Portugal’s hope of reaching the knockout stage came to pass when they beat Vietnam 2-0. Portugal flew out over the tournament debutants with Jessica Silva and Kika Nazareth both scoring in the first half while Vietnam has now been eliminated.To keep the hope alive, Portugal will have to beat USA so at to advance to the knockout stages in their upcoming match.
