
Zambia’s bid for the 2023 FIFA women’s world Cup’s title has lost momentum after conceding 5-0 defeat against Spain today at Eden park stadium.
Spain opened a pool of goals on Zambia in the first half of the match and dominated the ball possession throughout the game . It was Teresa albelleira who scored through the top corner of the goal post in the 9th minute while a stylish second goal was kicked in by Jennifer Hormoso in the 13th minute.
Coach Mwape made Several substitutes in the 37th minute when Susan Banda got injured and was replaced by Mary Wilombe while Avell Chitundu was replaced by Xiomara Mapepa.
The last three goals came in the second half of the game with Rodondo Ferrer scoring at the 69th minute and Jenifer Hormoso scored another goal a minute later. Rodondo Ferrer scored again to give La Roja a 5th goal in the 85th minute.
In group C Zambia will play their last match of the tournament against Costa Rica on 31st of July 2023 while Japan and Spain have all qualified for the knock out round.
