ZANACO OUT OF CAF CONFED CUP

Zambia’s sole representatives in the CAF confederations cup have been eliminated from the competition with two games to spare after losing all their last four matches in the group stage.

The Bankers suffered their fourth defeat in the CAF interclub competition on Sunday afternoon to Lybia’s Al-Ahli Tripoli when they lost by a 3-2 score line at the national heroes stadium in Lusaka.

Tripoli took an early lead in the 12th minute when Mohammed Fakih converted from the spot after they were awarded a penalty.
However, Abraham Siankombo equalized for Zanaco in the 36th but the party was cut short as Mohammed Fakih put Tripoli in the lead again from the spot kick after Zanaco conceded another penalty to complete his brace.

Just when all hope was lost, Moses Phiri equalized for the Bankers with 81 minutes played but with only seconds before full time , Muetazballah Abousheenah scored the winner for Al-Ahli Tripoli to dump the Zambian side out of the competition with two games to spare.
