Malawian top-flight side FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have appointed Zambian coach Donewell Yobe as their new Fitness and Strikers Trainer, adding him to head coach Wedson Nyirenda’s first-team technical staff.
Yobe, 43, will oversee the physical conditioning of the first-team squad while also working closely with the club’s forwards. He holds a CAF B Coaching Diploma, alongside further qualifications in football science, fitness and performance, making him a valuable addition to Nyirenda’s technical setup.
The Zambian had been identified by Nyirenda as part of his preferred technical team when the former Chipolopolo coach took charge of Bullets in June. However, his move to Malawi was delayed by his involvement with the Zambia Women’s National Team during the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026.
Yobe arrives at Bullets with considerable experience in both club and international football. He has worked in fitness, performance and coaching roles at FC Leopards, Kansanshi Dynamos, Napsa Stars and the Zambia Under-20 national team, in addition to his recent work with the Copper Queens. His own background as a striker also adds another dimension to his role with the Bullets attack.
Before moving into coaching and performance work, Yobe enjoyed a notable playing career. He began with Lusaka Dynamos and ZESCO United before moving to Finland, where he joined AC Oulu. He later returned to Zambia and featured for Napsa Stars, where he also captained the club.
During his spell at AC Oulu, Yobe finished as the club’s leading goalscorer for three consecutive seasons between 2008 and 2010. He was also part of the team that secured promotion to Finland’s top division in 2008, further highlighting the experience he brings to his new role.
His appointment strengthens Nyirenda’s technical team as FCB Nyasa Big Bullets look to dethrone defending champions Mighty Wanderers and challenge for the Malawian league title. Bullets currently sit fourth on 27 points after 14 matches, just two points behind leaders Silver Strikers, leaving the club firmly in contention as the season progresses.
Yobe will now be expected to play an important role in improving the physical condition of the squad while helping the club’s forwards sharpen their attacking output as Bullets pursue domestic success.
