Al Merriekh Unveil Zambia Midfielder Obino Chisala
Sudanese football giants Al Merriekh have officially unveiled Zambian midfielder Obino Chisala. The 25-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the club following his departure from Mozambican side CD Costa do Sol as a free agent.
A Rising Star
Chisala joins Al Merriekh after an impressive stint in Mozambique, where he established himself as a key player for CD Costa do Sol, the country’s most decorated club. Having spent 18 months with the 10-time Mozambican champions, he became a dependable figure in their squad.
The midfielder first joined Costa do Sol in July 2023, following a mutual separation with Zanaco FC. His time at Sunset Stadium spanned three years, starting in September 2020, after transferring from Zambian club Happy Hearts.
International Journey
On the international stage, Chisala has been a rising star for the Zambia national team. Since making his debut in a friendly against Malawi in March 2023, he has earned seven caps for the Chipolopolo.
Notably, Chisala’s versatility has been a major asset for Zambia. Although primarily featuring as a left-back during the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, he also showcased his attacking prowess in midfield. His performances in both roles have drawn praise, cementing his reputation as a versatile and reliable player.
New Chapter at Al Merriekh
By joining Al Merriekh, Chisala embarks on a new chapter in his career with one of Sudan’s most illustrious clubs. Known for their dominance in Sudanese football and continental competitions, Al Merriekh provides an excellent platform for Chisala to further showcase his talent on a bigger stage.
Conclusion
Obino Chisala’s move to Al Merriekh is a testament to his growth as a player and his potential to make an impact in African football. As he begins his journey with the Sudanese giants, Zambian fans will be eagerly watching his progress and rooting for his continued success.
