Elite Ladies striker Xiomara Mapepa has regained her position as the top scorer in the FAZ Women’s Super Division after netting four goals in a 4-1 win over Green Eagles at Crested Crane Academy Ground on Wednesday afternoon. Mapepa scored a hat-trick in the first half and then added her fourth goal just two minutes before the end of the game. With this feat, she now has a total of 21 goals in 23 games, which sees her overtake Red Arrows Women Football Club striker Ochumba Oseke Lubanji who has scored 20 goals so far.
Interestingly, Elite Ladies, who are currently in third place with 52 points and two games in hand, will face second-placed Red Arrows with 61 points in the FAZ Women’s Super Division Week 26 match at Woodlands stadium this weekend.
Mapepa‘s impressive performance has not only helped her team’s chances in the league but has also put her in contention for the Golden Boot award, which is awarded to the league’s top scorer at the end of the season. Her upcoming match against Lubanji‘s Arrows will be crucial in determining who ultimately clinches the award.
