Festus Duwe: Rising Star Lighting Up the TNM Super League
In a league renowned for producing exciting talent, Festus Duwe is quickly becoming a household name. The 22-year-old midfielder is turning heads in the TNM Super League, showcasing creativity, vision, and a fearless approach that has made him a standout performer for Silver Strikers FC.
From Balaka to the Big Stage
Born on 7 June 2003 in Balaka District, Duwe’s footballing story began at the Ascent Soccer Academy in 2017. Known for nurturing some of Malawi’s finest prospects, Ascent provided the platform where Duwe refined his technical and tactical abilities. His style—built on composure, creativity, and spatial awareness—was evident early on.
Breakout Moment at Civil Service United
Duwe’s transition into the TNM Super League came in 2022 when he signed with Civil Service United. It was at Civil where he announced himself on the national stage. His standout moment? A stunning 11-minute hat-trick against Karonga United that remains one of the fastest in league history. That same season, he emerged as Civil’s top scorer, defying his midfield role and proving his attacking instincts.

Silver Strikers’ Spark
In 2024, Duwe’s performances earned him a move to capital city giants Silver Strikers FC. Since joining, he’s continued his ascent. As of May 2025, he has scored five goals in all competitions—two in the TNM Super League and three in the Airtel Top 8 Cup—while bagging three Man of the Match awards.
His ability to operate both centrally and out wide makes him an invaluable asset for the Bankers. Duwe thrives in tight spaces, links play with elegance and consistently unlocks defenses with incisive passes. Just as importantly, his high fitness levels have kept him injury-free—a crucial trait in the physically demanding TNM Super League.
A Humble Leader in the Making
Despite not holding a formal leadership role at Silver Strikers, Duwe is a leader by example. His maturity, work ethic, and professionalism have earned him the respect of teammates and coaching staff. Reflecting on his iconic hat-trick, he told Bola Yapa Zed:
“It was a big moment for me, doing that in a competitive match — it gave me real belief.”
Conclusion
As the 2025 TNM Super League season continues, Festus Duwe is undoubtedly one of the names to watch. His meteoric rise from Balaka to the top flight is more than just a feel-good story—it’s the emergence of a genuine Malawian star. Can he lead Silver Strikers to silverware? One thing is clear: Malawi’s football future is in safe hands.
