Power Dynamos head coach Osward Mutapa has urged his players to remain calm, enjoy themselves and take responsibility as they prepare for the highly anticipated Copperbelt derby against Nkana FC.
With the two Kitwe rivals set to face each other in a Week 6 MTN Super League encounter at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, Mutapa believes the pressure surrounding such fixtures should not affect the players’ approach to the game.
The Power Dynamos coach explained that while football naturally comes with pressure, managing it is primarily the responsibility of the technical bench, allowing players to concentrate on performing on the pitch.
“Football is always played with pressure, but pressure is for the coaches. The players just go out there, enjoy themselves and take responsibility. That’s all we ask of them,” Mutapa said.
Mutapa also described himself as someone who remains composed during high-pressure situations, insisting that the occasion would not change his approach to his responsibilities as head coach.
“I am always calm and not emotional. I don’t think you see pressure in me. This is our job, and we are used to these moments,” he added.
The coach’s message comes ahead of another meeting between two of Zambia’s biggest Copperbelt rivals, with both sides looking to make their mark in a fixture that carries significant importance for their supporters.
Power Dynamos and Nkana will meet at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on Saturday, with kick-off scheduled for 15h00. The match will be broadcast live on TopStar.
