Copper Queens head coach Nora Häuptle says Zambia is fully prepared for Saturday’s crucial Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Group C clash against Nigeria, insisting her team has a clear game plan to deal with the Super Falcons.
Speaking ahead of the highly anticipated encounter, Häuptle acknowledged the quality of the nine-time African champions but expressed confidence that the Copper Queens are ready for the challenge.
“A Different Game”
The Swiss tactician described the fixture as a completely different test from Zambia’s opening match and stressed the importance of executing the team’s tactical approach.
“It will be a different game. We know the threat that Nigeria poses, but we have a clear game plan and we are ready to execute it,” Häuptle said.
The coach believes her players have prepared well and are ready to rise to the occasion in one of the biggest matches of the group stage.
Copper Queens Looking to Build Momentum
Zambia heads into the encounter full of confidence after an emphatic 6-0 victory over Egypt in their opening Group C fixture.
Captain Barbra Banda starred with four goals as the Copper Queens produced one of the standout performances of the tournament to move to the top of the group on goal difference.
Nigeria, meanwhile, will be desperate to bounce back after suffering a 3-2 defeat to Malawi, leaving the Super Falcons under pressure heading into the clash.
Group C Wide Open
After the opening round of matches, Zambia sits top of Group C with three points and a superior goal difference.
Malawi is second on three points, while Nigeria occupies third place despite also having three points. Egypt remains bottom of the table without a point.
A victory for Zambia would put the Copper Queens in a commanding position to qualify for the knockout stages.
Conclusion
With confidence high after an impressive opening victory, the Copper Queens now face their biggest challenge of the group stage.
Armed with a clear tactical plan and growing belief, Nora Häuptle’s side will be aiming to secure another statement victory when they take on Nigeria in a blockbuster WAFCON encounter.
