Nkana Football Club have announced the appointment of seasoned football administrator Mwansa Kapyanga as the club’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on a two-year contract, marking a significant step in strengthening the club’s administrative and governance structures. The appointment was confirmed in an official media statement released by the 13-time Zambian champions on December 18, 2025, from Kitwe.
Kapyanga’s Appointment and Experience
Kapyanga brings with him over 12 years of experience in football governance, operations, and team management, making him a strategic fit for one of Zambia’s most decorated clubs. He has previously served in several key roles within the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ), including as an Executive Committee Member and Chairperson for Northern Province, where he played a central role in national and regional football development initiatives.
Beyond FAZ, Kapyanga is currently a COSASAFA Match Commissioner, adding valuable continental experience to Nkana’s executive leadership. His background also includes managing logistics and operations for Zambia’s youth national teams, as well as contributing to grassroots development during his tenure as Club Director at Kasama United Youth Academy, with a particular emphasis on youth and women’s football development.
Strategic Vision and Club Expectations
In his new role, Kapyanga will focus on strategic alignment, corporate governance, and stakeholder relations, as Nkana FC seeks sustainable success both on and off the pitch. The club believes his appointment signals renewed intent to improve institutional performance while safeguarding Nkana’s proud tradition in Zambian football.
In addition to his football credentials, Kapyanga is a Chartered Accountant and is currently pursuing an MBA in Business Leadership and Management Strategy, equipping him with strong executive decision-making capabilities. Nkana FC President Eng. Justine Bwalya, who issued the statement, expressed confidence that Kapyanga’s leadership will drive innovation, stability, and improved performance as the club targets domestic and continental competitiveness.
Conclusion
Nkana Football Club have welcomed Mwansa Kapyanga to the executive team with optimism, expressing confidence that his blend of football administration experience and corporate leadership will elevate the club’s governance standards. As the Kalampa faithful look ahead, the appointment represents a fresh chapter aimed at restoring Nkana FC to the pinnacle of Zambian football.
